LazadaOfficial eCommerce Partner for KL Fashion Week in Support of M’sian SMEs

In-app livestreamed fashion show in conjunction with upcoming Merdeka campaign to accelerate growth of Malaysian SMEs and encourage consumers to Buy Malaysian.

KUALA LUMPUR, 8 August 2019:Lazada Malaysia announced today that it is the official eCommerce partner for KL Fashion Week (KLFW), and will host 10 homegrown designerson the nation’s leading eCommerce platform. The designers will be unveiling their new collections on the runwaysof KLFWat Pavilion Kuala Lumpur from 21 to 25 August 2019, with the looks sold exclusively on Lazada.The shows will be livestreamed on the Lazada app, with viewers able to add products to cart in real time as they are modelled on the runway.

“This collaboration is in line with our Shoppertainment approach to business, by providing an entertaining and immersive experience for our customers, while presenting new, technological solutions to our sellers to drive awareness and discovery on their brands and labels,” said Leo Chow, Chief Executive Officer of Lazada Malaysia.

The 10 designers’ ready-to-wear collections will be sold exclusively on Lazada. The runway shows will be livestreamed within the Lazada app, allowing Lazada’s extensive customer base to view the newly unveiled looks. Utilising a ‘see now, buy now’ concept, viewers will be able to add products to cart while watching the shows without leaving the livestream. This includes designs by renowned designers SyomirIzwa and Jimmy Lim, as well as East Malaysian labelsWynkaBorneo and Lana. For full details on the 10 local designers, please see the appendix.

Bringing his label offline to online for the first time, designer Jimmy Lim said, “The Jimmy Lim label hit its 20th anniversary this year. We have seen the evolution in consumerism, from offline to online. Now, newer and bigger marketplaces such as Lazada are leading the online shopping movement through innovation and technology. We are proud to be part of this initiative which includes designer labels like us onboard the wagon and are excited to be part of the KL Fashion Week livestreamed showcase. This is truly fashion-forward.”

To prepare for their upcoming store debuts on Lazada, the 10 designers underwent a series of training sessions to set up and optimize their stores on the platform. Using Lazada’s resources for sellers, the designers learnt how to lay out and decorate their stores to a style of their choosing as well as how Lazada’s seller tools can help them drive traffic to their stores and how to convert these visits into sales.

The collaboration comes ahead of Lazada Malaysia’s “Kita MerdeKawan” Merdeka month campaign, which highlights the best deals from Malaysian sellers from 7 August 2019 onwards, culminating with a mega sale on 21 August 2019.
