BUSINESS AND JOB OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND AT MIDA’S NATIONAL SUPPLY CHAIN CONFERENCE ON RAIL PROJECTS AND CAREER FAIR 2018

11 April 2018, Kuala Lumpur – The National Supply Chain Conference on Rail Projects organised by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) was held today at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur. It attracted an overwhelming interest of more than 2,000 participants ranging from industry players as well as local authorities, business chambers and embassies.

There was a panel presentation which discussed the opportunities available in the supply chains of the infrastructure projects that are currently taking place in Malaysia. The session, which was moderated by Mr Ibrahim Sani of Astro Awani, featured speakers from Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat (SPAD), Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (MRT Corp), Malaysia Rail Link Sdn. Bhd. (MRL) and MyHSR Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (MyHSRCorp). There were also 28 key exhibits mainly focusing on the development of the rail projects in Malaysia, including Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM) and other rail-related industry players.

During his welcome remarks, Dato’ Azman Mahmud, Chief Executive Officer of MIDA said, “Developing opportunities for SMEs to participate in the supply chains of the MNCs in Malaysia has been an on-going effort of MIDA. Recognising that infrastructure development is an important catalyst to promote investments to spur the country’s economic growth, we are intensifying efforts to promote sustainable linkages between all stakeholders. We want to encourage the transfer of advanced technology, increase of employment opportunities and talent development as well as sustain the growth of local industry players including SMEs in various related industry sectors.”

KUALA LUMPUR – 07 April 2018 – Heineken® once again delivered a world class experience to Malaysian fans who welcomed the iconic UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour presented by Heineken®. This year’s campaign, ‘Share The Drama, Share The Trophy’ kicked off in the heart of Kuala Lumpur with the grand arrival of the coveted UEFA Champions League Trophy. Two Malaysian fans – Chaw Tze Kien and Hui Wai Hong were given the honor of escorting the coveted “Ol’ Big Ears” alongside world renowned football legend, Ronaldinho in a grandeur entrance into Pavilion. The entourage accompanying the trophy and Ronaldinho were prominent Malaysian UEFA Champions League fans from different fields – actor, JC Chee; entrepreneur and philanthropist, Deborah Henry; football legends, Datuk Santokh Singh and Datuk Soh Chin Aun.

Sony Expands “Full-frame Mirrorless” Line-up with New a7 III with the Latest Imaging Technologies all Compressed into a Compact Package

KUALA LUMPUR, 05 April 2018 – Sony today introduced yet another impressive addition to their full-frame mirrorless camera line-up, the a7 Ill (model lLCE-7M3).

Sony’s unmatched innovation within the image sensor space is at the forefront of the new a7 III, as it features a brand new 24.2MP’1 back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS image sensor with increased sensitivity, outstanding resolution and an impressive 15 stops’2 of dynamic range at low sensitivities. By combining this sensor with a variety of impressive features including extreme AF coverage of 93%, fast shooting at up to 10 fps’3 with either mechanical shutter or silent shooting’4 diverse 4K’5 video capabilities and more, Sony has created a new tool that gives all types of creators – from enthusiast to professional – the ability to capture content in new and different ways than they ever have before.

Spectacular Full-frame Image Quality

The newly developed 24.2MP’1 back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS image sensor is paired with a front-end LSl that effectively doubles the readout speed of the image sensor, as well as an updated BlONZ X’TM processing-engine that boosts processing speed by approximately 1.8 times compared to the a7 ll. These powerful components work together to allow the camera to shoot at faster speeds while also enabling its impressive ISO range of 100 – 51200 (expandable to ISO 50 – 204800 for still images) and an overall 1.5-stop’9 improvement in image quality. The camera also features a massive 15-stop’2 dynamic range at low sensitivity settings, ensuring outstanding overall performance at all settings and in all shooting conditions, with significant advancements in accurate colour reproductions of skin tones and the vibrant colours of nature. This new full-frame model can also output 14 bit RAW format’10 even in silent and continuous shooting modes, and is equipped with a 5-axis optical image stabilisation system that results in a 5.0 step’5 shutter speed advantage.

Significant Advances in AF Speed and Performance

The innovative new a7 Ill full-frame mirrorless camera features a level of AF performance that has been largely improved over the a7 ll, including the addition of 4D FOCUS’TM capabilities. The new camera has 425 contrast AF points that work with a 693-point focal-plane phasedetection AF system inherited from the acclaimed a9 model. This innovative AF system covers approximately 93% of the frame, ensuring reliable focusing and tracking for even the most difficult to capture subjects.

AF response and tracking has also been greatly improved in the new camera, with almost 2x’9 the focusing speed in low-light condition and 2x’2 the tracking speed compared to the previous model as a result of the faster image sensor readout. This allows complex and unpredictable motion to be captured with far greater precision and accuracy.

The acclaimed Eye AF feature is also available in the new camera, even in AF-C mode, which is extremely useful for situations where the subject is turning around, looking down or otherwise obstructed. It also works when the a7 Ill is being used with Sony’s A-mount lenses with an optional LA-EA3 adaptor’11. Additional improvements in focusing flexibility include the addition of a multi-selector or ‘joystick’ for moving focusing points quickly, the addition of touch focusing capability, AF availability in Focus Magnifier mode, an ‘AF On’ button and much more.
